Kent
Powell
(by Kent Powell)
Paid for by the Committee to Make Laundry Bags Full of Money for Kent PowellWho is Kent Powell? To answer
this perplexing question, we turn now to Kent Powell: "Kent," says Kent,
"is a complicated man. One of the rare breed of modern-day Renaissance
geniuses: Actor, writer, philosopher, poet, fashion model, opinion-leader, peace
broker, sperm donor, healer, Cordon Bleu chef, animal-rights activist, mason, artist,
counselor, linguist, amateur sex-surrogate and financial wizard."
Kent produced and engineered the
group's initial demo tape, but after that they made a real one and started getting gigs.
Confirmed gear head and songwriter, Kent writes some of Ben Strange's occasional
original tunes, such as "Dirty Floor Blues" and "Mercy". He also
chastises the others for their mistakes while admitting none of his own. When asked
for his musical influences, he mentions: "The Beatles, Beach Boys, Beastie
Boys, Bjork, Beck, Byrds, Bob Dylan. Anything that starts with a 'B'."
Sarcastically nicknamed
"Mopey" after his expression in the group's promotional 8"x10" photo,
Kent has worn this smile continuously since being lobotomized two years ago. He's
also coming on to the photographer. |
